Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY

We are looking for one exceptional candidate to serve as Bar Manager, responsible for overseeing all bar operations while partnering closely with the General Manager to deliver an elevated guest experience. This role focuses on building and maintaining outstanding cocktail programs, extensive beer offerings, and a strong wine program while ensuring operational excellence, cost control, and team development.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

(Other duties will be assigned as needed.) Must be willing and able to do the following:

  • Deliver consistently high standards of hospitality and beverage service to all guests.
  • Build, execute, and maintain cocktail programs that meet quality, consistency, and cost targets.
  • Curate, manage, and maintain extensive beer and wine selections with strong product knowledge.
  • Train, schedule, and manage hourly bar staff.
  • Develop a professional, accountable, and high-performing bar team through ongoing training and performance management.
  • Train and test employees on cocktails, beer styles, wine knowledge, service standards, and responsible alcohol service.
  • Oversee all bar inventory management including ordering, receiving, storage, par levels, invoicing, and inventory counts.
  • Monitor beverage costs, minimize waste, and ensure adherence to recipes and portion standards.
  • Assist the General Manager with beverage planning and execution for private events and special programming.
  • Maintain positive guest relations and address service issues promptly and professionally.
  • Ensure compliance with ABCA regulations, health department requirements, and company policies.
  • Perform other restaurant-side duties as requested by management.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field and/or equivalent work experience in Food & Beverage.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in the hospitality industry, with a strong focus on bar operations.
  • At least 2 years of management experience in a high-volume and/or fine-dining bar or restaurant environment.
  • Demonstrated experience building cocktail programs, managing beer and wine selections, and controlling beverage inventory.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Strong leadership and mentorship skills with the ability to develop bar team members.
  • Extensive knowledge of cocktails, spirits, beer styles, wine varietals, and beverage trends.
  • Proven inventory management, ordering, and cost-control skills.
  • Professional appearance and demeanor.
  • Effective English-language written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to identify and assess operational issues and recommend effective solutions.
  • Ability to communicate complex, technical, and sensitive information clearly and appropriately while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Excellent customer service and guest engagement skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with staff, vendors, and management.
  • Ability to lift and carry boxes weighing up to 50 pounds for distances of up to 50 feet and to manipulate them from heights, which may require the use of a foot-stool.
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by business needs.
  • Must maintain an active ABCA Manager License and DOH Food Manager License.
