Join our team as a Model Finisher!

 

The SLA Model Finisher will be responsible for support removal, safe cleaning, and finishing of RP models. They will be responsible for the routine cleaning of the facility

 

Wednesday - Saturday (W-F 9a-730p, Sa 8a-630p) 

What you will do

• Clean and finish RP models according to Proto Labs Procedures. This is achieved by use of sandpaper, bead blasting equipment and other small tools to prepare RP models according to Customer specifications.
• Effectively use all checklists associated with the cleaning and finishing of RP models.
• Maintain a clean and safe laboratory environment and assist with the restocking of supplies.
• Assist in the removal and disposal of contaminated materials according to Proto Labs Procedures. 
• Observe all Proto Labs Safety and Quality Procedures.
• Perform additional tasks as assigned.

What it takes

• High School Diploma or equivalent 
• Rigid attention to detail with the capacity to work with small features and tight tolerances.
• Must be able to follow instructions and focus on the specific details involved in accurately finishing models.
• Periods of high concentration and visual focus when finishing small and intricate models.
• Normal duties require the use of safety equipment to include but no limited to; safety glasses, hearing protection, respirators, lab coats and gloves.
• Must be able to read, write and commutate English fluently.
• Ability to take direction and adapt quickly to a constantly fluid environment.
• Ability to learn proper caliper use for the accurate measuring of dimensions while model finishing.
• Manual dexterity required for working with delicate parts and equipment.
• Must possess good interpersonal skills, communication skills and work well in a team environment.
• Work involves infrequent lifting of materials and product up to 25 pounds
• Some basic computer skills necessary

Bonus points for

• Experience with Microsoft Office is a plus.  
• Craft Skills and Mechanical aptitude

Physical Demands:

While performing the essential duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to sit; use a computer keyboard, monitor and mouse, telephone and printer; reach with hands, and arms, talk, see and hear.  The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, stoop or kneel and must be able to lift and/or move up to 70 pounds. 

Work Environment:

Indoors (A/C); nonsmoking; the majority of this job function is performed in a manufacturing area exposed to machinery and noise; with eye protection and safety shoes required. Occasionally works in outside weather conditions. Occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.
