Southern Arkansas University, a NCAA Division II member institution and member of the Great American Conference (GAC), is seeking applicants for the position of Assistant Football Coach (Defense) / Instructor in the Human Performance and Sport Sciences department. Candidates will be expected to be in full compliance of the University, NCAA and GAC regulations.
Duties: support the head coach in all phases of a highly competitive program including but not limited to: work directly with the Head Coach in formulating game plans and scouting opponents; implementing the weekly game plan pertaining to defense; classroom setting film review of practices and games will be required of this position; show a sincere interest in the development of the student-athlete; responsible for discipline and mentoring the players on defense; teach part-time in the Human Performance and Sport Sciences department. As with all faculty positions, the candidate would be required to be involved with professional development and service to meet university guidelines for continuing employment and other duties assigned.
Qualifications: Master’s degree required in related field; teaching experience in related field; demonstrate evidence of successful experience in coaching; must be willing to work tirelessly and cohesively with the entire coaching staff and the administration of the university; record of success in collegiate and/or interscholastic coaching; effective communication, excellent written and oral communication skills with a strong attention to detail; knowledge of HUDL, Vizio, Excel and Word are vital; interpersonal skills and commitment to total success of students.
