Job Description

Description

Change slows for no one. At Street Smart, we partner with those who choose to get out in front of it - turning corners instead of cutting them. We are a team of technical and operational experts who deliver traffic safety equipment and smart work zone technology solutions across North America.

As we continue to grow and expand into new markets, we are seeking a hands-on Regional Operations Manager to support our Hudson, MA operations. This is an exempt, full-time role reporting to the Director of Operations - East Region. Travel is required within the region and occasionally nationwide.

Role Overview

This is not a traditional management role on day one.

You will begin as a highly independent, hands-on operator, responsible for managing day-to-day operations across the region - including equipment repair, field deployment, inventory management, and customer support.

You'll play a critical role in ensuring our equipment performs at the highest level and our customers receive reliable, responsive service.

As the region grows, this role will evolve into a leadership position, with the opportunity to hire, develop, and lead a team of Service Technicians.

This role is ideal for someone who takes pride in their work, operates with ownership, and enjoys building and improving operations from the ground up.

Key Responsibilities

Hands-On Technical & Field Operations

  • Diagnose, repair, and perform preventative maintenance on traffic safety and smart work zone equipment
  • Deploy, install, and service equipment at customer sites, including roadside and construction environments
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and 12-volt systems
  • Ensure all equipment meets quality and safety standards before deployment

Inventory & Equipment Management

  • Manage inventory, asset tracking, and maintenance schedules
  • Conduct regular inventory checks and ensure equipment readiness
  • Maintain accurate service and equipment records in CRM systems

Regional Operations (Individual Contributor - Building for Growth)

  • Operate independently to manage day-to-day shop and field operations in the region
  • Prioritize and coordinate repairs, service, and deployments
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reliability, and service delivery
  • Transition into hiring, leading, and developing a team as the region grows

Customer & Project Support

  • Partner with sales and customers to ensure successful equipment deployment and service
  • Provide responsive technical support and problem-solving in the field
  • Assist with planning and logistics for regional projects

Facility & Shop Oversight

  • Maintain shop organization, tools, and operational readiness
  • Coordinate basic facility needs and vendor support as needed

Qualifications

Required

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Strong mechanical and technical troubleshooting skills
  • Experience with equipment repair, shop tools, and field service work
  • Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities
  • Valid driver's license and ability to obtain a DOT Medical Card
  • Ability to operate a ton truck, towing trailers
  • Forklift experience
  • Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, systems/data entry)

Preferred

  • Prior experience in equipment repair, construction, or related environments
  • Experience with inventory or asset management systems
  • Familiarity with CRM platforms (e.g., Salesforce)
  • Basic knowledge of electrical systems (12-volt)
  • Shop experience (fabrication, welding, or machining)
  • Previous leadership experience or interest in growing into a leadership role

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

This role combines shop work, field service, and operational responsibility. Work will regularly take place outdoors, in roadside environments, and in varying weather conditions.

Physical requirements include lifting up to 50 lbs, operating tools and equipment, driving vehicles towing trailers, and working in physically demanding positions such as standing, bending, kneeling, and navigating uneven terrain.

Additional requirements include working safely in construction environments, using personal protective equipment, meeting DOT medical requirements, and communicating effectively for safety and compliance.

What We Offer

  • Career advancement opportunities as the region grows
  • Company incentive plan with quarterly payouts
  • Health benefits beginning the first of the month following hire, including multiple medical plan options and company HSA contributions
  • Dental, vision, and flexible spending accounts
  • 100% company-paid short-term disability, long-term disability, and life insurance
  • 401(k) with company match
  • 11 paid holidays
  • 3 weeks of PTO (prorated in year one)
  • Company-provided cell phone
